When we reflect on our most memorable journeys, harking back to the moments that have shaped us, there’s a common narrative that starts to emerge.
So many of our richest adventures have come to us while travelling in our four wheeled homes. The bond that we form with these vessels of escapism is strong. They see us through the best of times and give us everything we need for those days that stay with us.
Sharing stories from the dusty trail, there’s a nostalgia in our voices as we speak of the companions that took us there. That time we pulled a 12 hour stint across France to reach swell at Hossegor. Hugging the rugged coast of Scotland as wind and rain pelted us but never dampened our spirits. Venturing deep into the wilderness of the Pacific NorthWest, lost and alone but never more at home.
Shelter, warmth, a place to rustle up a meal and dry off our salty skin. We fix up the inside just the way we like it. Trinkets that remind us of home and artefacts that tell stories of the places we’ve been. Throw in some blankets, enamel mugs, a couple of books and some greenery, just right.

We learn to embrace their foibles, imperfections and personality. It’s these workarounds and handy mends that make up the character of our closest adventure buddy. Gears in need of an occasional talking to, a rear window that sings when opened, that cupboard door with a knack. Like an old friend we wouldn’t change a thing. Life on the road is cherished and our connection runs deep.
We look to the days ahead, hitting the road in search of escapism and the simple things. With a single fin strapped to the roof, cold ones in the fridge and an open road stretched out before us, we know that Old Piney will take us beyond the everyday. In time, becoming as much a part of the Passenger team as any one of us...
